You don’t have a motivation problem.
You have a 6 a.m. problem.

A woman sitting on the edge of her bed at dawn, just awake, reaching for the phone on the nightstand

If you’ve been waking up with dread — the to-do list, the inner voice whispering “you’re already behind” — that first minute after the alarm sets the tone before your feet touch the floor. It’s not that you can’t get out of bed in the morning. It’s that the first voice you hear is a siren, and the second is the critic. How to wake up without dread.

Affilist is an iOS app for voice affirmations, built for the first minute after the alarm. Record affirmations and a Manifesto in your own voice — or let AI write them for your exact situation, in 7 languages — and set them as a real wake-up alarm that rings through silent mode.

A wake-up alarm in your own voice: a real affirmation alarm, even in silent mode

Affilist’s wake-up alarm is a real AlarmKit alarm: full-screen, through silent mode, with up to 29 seconds of your own recording — your Manifesto or your playlist’s affirmations in order. Two buttons, Stop and Listen, no snooze; Listen opens the app and plays it in full.

  • Rings on silent
  • Stop or Listen, no snooze
  • Up to 29 s of your recording
  • Up to 5 alarms per playlist

Stop or Listen — there is no snooze button

That’s how AlarmKit works, not a promise you’ll get up. If one alarm isn’t enough, set a backup — up to five per playlist or Manifesto. Why you hit snooze.

A real alarm, not a notification

A notification can be missed or silenced. Affilist schedules a system alarm through Apple’s AlarmKit, so it rings full-screen and through silent mode. Does an iPhone alarm ring in silent mode?

“‘I am enough’ doesn’t sound like me. It doesn’t know about the shift, the breakup, the interview.”

AI affirmations for your exact situation

Type it or dictate it — what’s weighing on you tonight — and AI writes affirmations about that, in your language. The library already has affirmations for when you feel overwhelmed, daily affirmations for confidence and affirmations for the night shift.

Why your own voice: what the research shows, and what it doesn’t

Affirming what matters to you is a studied practice

In a laboratory stress test, people who first wrote about their core values had lower cortisol responses than a control group (Creswell et al., Psychological Science, 2005). A review in the Annual Review of Psychology concludes that timely self-affirmation can improve education, health and relationship outcomes (Cohen & Sherman, 2014).

Words about you stick better

A meta-analysis of the self-reference effect found that material related to the self is remembered better than material about other people or mere word meaning (Symons & Johnson, Psychological Bulletin, 1997). That is why Affilist writes affirmations for your situation instead of handing you a generic list.

Your brain files your own voice under “me”

In an fMRI study, listening to one’s own voice increased activity in the same right-hemisphere region as seeing one’s own face, a region tied to processing self-related stimuli (Kaplan et al., Social Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience, 2008).

What this doesn’t show: nobody has tested a wake-up alarm that plays your recorded affirmations, these studies used written value exercises rather than spoken lines, and a 2024 study found no accuracy advantage for recognizing your own voice over a familiar one (Acta Psychologica, 2024). We don’t promise a better day. We make the first minute yours and let you judge. More on why your own voice makes affirmations more effective.

Questions about Affilist and its wake-up alarm

The wake-up alarm

Can an alarm play my own voice?
Yes. Affilist uses Apple's AlarmKit to ring a real wake-up alarm with your own recorded voice — your wake-up affirmations or your recorded Manifesto — and it breaks through silent mode so you actually hear it. The first 29 seconds of your recording ring as the alarm; tap Listen to hear the rest. If there's no recording yet, or iOS can't load the sound, the standard alarm sound plays instead. Read our full guide: how to wake up to your own affirmations, or browse all our wake-up alarm guides.
Can I set a voice memo as an alarm on iPhone?
Not in the Clock app — Voice Memos aren't offered as alarm sounds, and the usual workaround is converting the file in GarageBand. Affilist skips that: record inside the app, turn on "Wake up to my voice", and the recording rings as a real AlarmKit alarm, through silent mode. Step by step: how to set a custom voice alarm on iPhone.
Is there a snooze button?
No. An AlarmKit alarm shows two buttons: Stop, and Listen — which opens Affilist and plays your recording in full. If you tend to hit snooze for an hour, set a second alarm; Affilist suggests a backup when only one is set (up to five per playlist or Manifesto). No snooze is how AlarmKit works, not a promise you'll get up. Why you hit snooze.
Does Affilist send daily reminders?
Yes. Besides the wake-up alarm there are reminders and practice goals, plus streaks, sessions and hours-invested tracking for the rest of the day. The two are different things: the wake-up alarm is a system alarm built on AlarmKit and rings through silent mode, while a reminder is a normal notification. Reminders, streaks and the alarm are free; Score statistics beyond the streak are free for the first 3 days.
Which iPhone and iOS version do I need?
Affilist requires iOS 26 or later, because the wake-up alarm is built on Apple's AlarmKit, which arrived with iOS 26. It's an iPhone app; there is no Android, iPad-specific or Apple Watch version yet. If you're on an older iOS, the App Store will tell you before you download. What AlarmKit is and why it matters.

Affirmations and the Manifesto

Do affirmations actually work?
Affirmations are a self-talk practice for confidence, self-esteem and focus: hearing supportive statements in your own voice, consistently, can help you focus on who you're becoming — see why your own voice makes them more effective. Affilist is a wellness and self-improvement tool, not medical or psychological treatment.
What if affirmations don't work for me?
Three common reasons: the lines are generic or robotic ("I am enough," about nobody's life), the voice is a stranger's, or there's no fixed moment to hear them. Affilist changes all three — AI writes for your exact situation, you record it yourself, and it rings as your alarm. Still a practice, not a cure: it won't fix every morning. How to write affirmations that sound like you.
How does Affilist personalize affirmations?
You describe what's weighing on you — type it or dictate it — and AI writes affirmations for that exact situation, in your language, instead of a generic list. You can then record them in your own voice and set them as your wake-up alarm. Free includes 10 AI generations and 2 custom topics; Premium makes both unlimited. Your text goes to the AI provider only after you allow it in the app. How the AI affirmation generator works.
Can I use Affilist for manifestation?
In one specific way: you write a Manifesto — one page about who you're becoming — record it in your own voice, and wake up to it every morning as your alarm. That's what "manifest with your own voice" means here. There are no vision boards or abundance scripts, and no promised outcomes: it's a daily self-talk practice. How to write a personal Manifesto.

Compare, privacy and price

How is Affilist different from I am, Mantra, ThinkUp or Innertune?
Three things, per each app's own App Store listing: the alarm is a real AlarmKit system alarm that rings with your recording through silent mode; AI writes affirmations for what you tell it, in seven languages; and it's built around the wake-up minute rather than a big catalogue. The others have bigger libraries, widgets or music, and some are cheaper. We compared them honestly, with dates: Affilist vs other affirmation apps.
Is my voice data private?
Your voice recordings and AI-generated audio stay on your device and are never uploaded to our servers. No account or email is required. Text is sent to our AI providers only with your explicit in-app permission, and only to deliver the feature you asked for. See our Privacy Policy.
What languages does Affilist support?
Seven: English, Spanish, French, German, Russian, Japanese, and Simplified Chinese — the interface, the AI that writes your affirmations, and the voices.
How much does Affilist cost?
Free includes 15 affirmations, 5 recordings in your own voice, 1 playlist, 10 AI generations and 2 custom topics — plus the wake-up alarms, the Manifesto and all 7 languages. Premium ($6.99 a week or $49.99 a year, with a 3-day free trial for new subscribers) unlocks unlimited affirmations, recordings, playlists, AI generations and custom topics.
Does Affilist work offline?
Playback, your recordings and the wake-up alarms work without a connection — everything is stored on your iPhone. Only writing new affirmations with AI and generating AI voices need internet.
Do I need an account?
No. Affilist works under an anonymous identifier — no sign-up, no email, no password.
